1.) Which category should I
enter?
We designed the industry categories to be very broad in order to allow
participants to choose an entry category that best fits their talents and
interests. There can be overlap in some of the categories and it is up to
the nominator to choose which category is most appropriate for that
particular entry.
2.) Can I enter more than one
category?
Yes, you may enter multiple categories to increase your chances of winning
Best of Industry honors. SIA reserves the right to refuse entry of
products that do not comply with all applicable entry criteria.
3.) Do you have to be based in
India to participate in the SIA Competition?
No, Competition is open for all the design, engineering and architectural
students worldwide, who are currently studying or completed education after
December 2007.The Web is truly global and so is the Stainless Innovation
Awards (SIA).Shortlisted participants will have to provide student or
graduation certificate, failing that the entry will be discarded.
If you work outside India, you can help us by telling others in your
interactive community about SIA so that it will continue to be an
international award.
4.) Does the entry need to be in
English?
Yes, all entries should be in English. It makes the judging process
easier and brings consistency.
5.) How much does it cost to
enter?
There is no entry fee for SIA Competition. SIA is just an attempt to
promote students talents. Stainless Innovation Award would like to
create platform for young designers from all over the world to share their
talent.
6.) How are the award levels
determined?
Each entry is judged on
seven different criteria,
Design -
Innovation, aesthetics, clarity of idea, Character of form, ergonomic,
Technology
- appropriates application, human centric,
Material
innovation in using materials, fusion of different materials, surface
quality, textures etc,
Quality of presentation, Feasibility, Social
Acceptance, Environmental Compatibility, earning a score between 0 and
10 points. The highest score in a given category wins Best of entry
for that category and one runner up entry. Winning SIA is truly an
honor, as a large number of entries do not win any award. What do I get if I
win a SIA?
7.) What do I get if I win a SIA?
Beside the respect, recognition, and admiration of your peers, SIA provides
you the followings:
i.) Winner in each category will be awarded US$ 2000 and 1st runner up will
get US$1000.There will be special mention of short listed entries.
ii.) A unique SIA trophy
iii.) A certificate of achievement
8.) Can you explain how the
entries are judged?
A Team of international and national jury members will Short list finalist
online from at first stage .At 2nd stage jury will meet up together to
discuss concepts in details and decide winners.
9.) How do you pick the judges
for your competitions?
We are fortunate to have a loyal group of judges who agreed to judge the
competition. They are a mix of architects, designers, industrialists,
professors from architect colleges and similar.
10.) Will I receive judges
comments for every entry I make?
We highly encourage judges to provide comments and feel it is one of the
major things that set us apart from other competitions. But since, we cannot
require judges to comment on each made, not all entries receive comments
from the judges. If you did receive specific comments, they would be
published on your edit page.
We feel strongly that it is important for a judges to offer comments,
particularly when they do not score a entry well. It is our goal to help
each participant understand the judges thought process and to provide
comments to assist the entrant improve for the future. Every entry will
receive feedback in the form of actual scores for their creations on each of
the seven judging criteria and industry benchmarks by which to evaluate
them.
